H&WG Labour Party members are campaigning every week in the run up to the London Elections on 6 May. It’s more vital than ever now that we return our Labour candidates Sadiq Khan as Mayor and Joanne McCartney as Assembly Member for Enfield and Haringey.  Only Labour has a plan to deal with the unprecedented challenges London is facing, including severe hardship for many of its citizens.

You can learn more about Sadiq Khan’s election policies and follow him on social media by clicking here. For Joanne McCartney’s website and social media links click here.

See below for our action diary, useful LP information and how to guides and videos, and to find out how you can join our campaign.

LEAFLETTING

The LP relies on its members to make sure that all our supporters use their vote on polling day!  We depend on them to deliver all our leaflets and other communications to residents. We rely on a very large number of volunteers, prepared to leaflet a street or two, to cover the entire constituency.

PHONING VOTERS

We  contact residents using their public telephone number to find out if they plan to vote for Labour. During the Covid pandemic, this has become a very important way to speak to voters as traditional door knocking has been impossible. If we can find out which residents plan to vote Labour, we can encourage them to register for an early postal vote and send them a reminder on election day.

We hold virtual LP phone banking sessions on Zoom and use an application called Dialogue. This is easy to access via your computer, lap top or other device. It allows members to call voters free of charge from their phones or mobiles. Training for using Dialogue will be provided at all phone banking sessions. Once you’ve used Dialogue in a team, you’ll also be able to access the system in your own time, when it suits you.

If you want to prepare to use Dialogue, you can activate your LP membership account now by clicking here. You’ll need your membership number (on your membership card or ask your branch secretary) as well as the email you used when joining the LP.

Once you’ve activated your membership account, you can watch a useful video introduction to using Dialogue by clicking the button below.

DOOR KNOCKING

Once it’s safe to do so, we’ll also be knocking on residents doors so we can talk to our Labour supporters. We hope we’ll also be ‘knocking up’ our supporters on polling day to check if they’ve remembered to cast their vote. More information will be available soon. Members will be given special safety guidelines to follow. You can read a useful LP guide to door knocking by clicking the button below.

Members can use the LP’s Doorstep App to directly record voting preferences onto the LP’s main system. This cuts out the need for paper and further manual data entry. You can access Doorstep App on your mobile or tablet and it’s simple to use. The app is actually a download and a mobile internet connection is not required while door knocking. Training will be offered and there’s also a guide on the button below.

To access the LP guides and videos, as well as to use Doorstep App you will be asked first to activate your LP membership account which you can do now by clicking here. You’ll need your membership number (on your membership card or ask your branch secretary) as well as the email you used when joining the LP.
