Hornsey & Friern Barnet CLP is divided into 8 Branches: Alexandra Park, Crouch End, Fortis Green, Friern Barnet, Harringay, Hornsey, Muswell Hill, Stroud Green. Branches are also known as wards because they mirror the ward divisions in the constituency. You can find a map of the constituency and its wards below.
Hornsey & Friern Barnet CLP stretches across two London Boroughs: Haringey and Barnet. Together with Tottenham, most of H&FB lies within Haringey and shares the same Haringey Council. Friern Barnet lies within the bounds of Barnet Council, which overlaps with the Chipping Barnet, Finchley and Golders Green, and Hendon constituencies.
Once you have joined the Labour Party, your Branch Secretary will automatically send you regular mailings about meetings as well as other activities. The Branch Secretary is also your first point of contact if you have any queries. If you are disabled and there are any arrangements branches can make to enable you to attend meetings and other activities, please let your Branch Secretary know.
What happens at branch meetings?
Each Branch meets in the first week of the month. All members are warmly welcome to attend. Branches elect an Executive Committee and other branch Officers at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). They also elect delegates to represent the branch on the CLP’s General Committee (GC).
The General Committee of the CLP
The constituency General Committee (GC) meets on the fourth Wednesday of each month. All members can attend but only delegates (elected from branches, or from affiliated trade unions or socialist societies) can vote.
An Executive Committee and other officers are elected at the AGM to help run the CLP, to organise election campaigning and campaigns on many different issues. Our elected Labour representatives attend to tell us about their work.
The GC also elects delegates to Labour’s regional and National Conferences, and other bodies and forums.
