A Caring Future? Social Care Under the Microscope. Members Meeting.
Hornsey & Wood Green CLP & Haringey Keep Our NHS Public welcome all members to this Zoom meeting on Thursday 4 March at 7pm.

You can access the Zoom link from your email Social Care Zoom meeting.

Social care is at breaking point – and Covid 19 highlighted its Cinderella status, which the government’s latest announcements do nothing to improve. It could be so different – as other countries have proved – it doesn’t cost the earth, and Labour needs to make the case – for care as social infrastructure investment – good for people, and good for the economy.

Join the panel to debate how to:

  • achieve a properly funded Care service
  • improve its care, quality and availability
  • make caring a good career
  • and consider next steps for Labour councils and the national party

Speakers :

Sarah Owen MP, vice Chair APPG for Social Care

Gordon Peters, Trustee Public Voice, ex Director Hackney Social Services

Andrew Dobbie, National Officer Community UNISON

Sarah James, Cabinet lead Adults & Health, Chair Health & Wellbeing Board

Mary Langan, Chair Severe & Complex Autism & Learning Disability Group (SCALD)

Peray Ahmet, Chair Haringey Overview & Scrutiny Committee

Concluding remarks from Catherine West MP, Shadow Foreign Minister Europe & Americas

Chaired by Anne O’Daly – Chair, HWG CLP
