On Wednesday 23rd November 2016, Philip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer, gave his Autumn budget Statement. He said nothing about how he would address funding gaps in our health services. I think [the Chancellor] mentioned the NHS once. But nowt, nada, zilch for our NHS and social care. Jon Ashworth MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Health, 23.11.16

What’s happening in North London? The managers of health and local authority care in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington spell out the likely funding gaps in their draft Sustainability and Transformation Plan for North Central London (STP) Between them they now spend £2,500 million (£2.5 billion) on health and £800 million on local authority adult and children’s social care and public health.
If nothing changes:
- the gap in North Central health services funding (the ‘efficiency savings’/cuts needed to balance the books) will be £900 million by April 2020. If nothing changes,
- the gap in North Central local authority adult and children’s social care and public health will be £300 million by April 2020
SEND YOUR VIEWS about the Plan as soon as possible to Cllr Claire Kober (Leader of Haringey Council and Chair of Haringey Health & Wellbeing Board) and Cllr Richard Watts (Leader of Islington Council and Chair of Islington Health & Wellbeing Board). Both have expressed serious concerns. Email NCLSTP@islington.gov.uk
