Join us on Sunday 12noon to commemorate the Battle of Wood Green

Join Jeremy Corbyn, Catherine West and many others this Sunday at 12 noon at Ducketts Common by Turnpike Lane tube, when we will be celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Battle of Wood Green - when the National Front were stopped from marching through Wood Green, and were run out of town for good. Our community united - all parties and all faiths united against fascism. Prominent amongst the Councillors at that time was Jeremy Corbyn - he will be speaking on Sunday (it’s a long-standing commitment but it's obviously possible that other priorities will now interfere!).

What happened in 1977: The National Front marched along Turnpike Lane, opposite the end of Duckett's Common on 23 April 1977. Radical elements of anti-fascist protestors attacked the marchers and subjected the NF column to a barrage of smoke bombs, eggs and rotten fruit. Eighty-one people were arrested, including seventy-four anti-fascists. Harringay Online 2011
