Joanna Christophides

I have lived in Haringey all of my life, in Alexandra ward, between the wonderful green spaces of Alexandra Palace and Albert Road Recreation Ground. My two sons go to Alexandra Park School and Bounds Green School where I am Chair of the PTA. I am also Secretary of the Friends of Albert Road Recreation Ground which has been transformed through the teamwork of Haringey Council, local residents and Haringey Tennis.

I have been a councillor in Bounds Green ward since 2010 and I have enjoyed every minute of it. Being a councillor is not without its challenges and with Haringey Council struggling with massive cuts to our budget by this Tory government, but being able to work closely with residents is a real privilege.

Dear Joanna,
Prior to Thursday’s Poll I would be grateful if you could let me know if, if elected, you will be urging the Council to re-open the 6 drop-in centres for the elderly described as ‘essential’ and which Haringey Council closed in 2011 / 2012? I believe there is still a good deal of money left unused in the One Borough One Future fund. I have contacted Catherine West over this issue and raised it on a number of Labour Party platforms. I have not received a single reply to date. I look forward to hearing from you.
