James Patterson

James_Patterson.jpgI have lived in Alexandra ward for a number of years. I work as a university research ethics officer. Having gained much experience as a local campaigner, I currently serve as a trustee of a local charity. I am interested in decarbonisation and am glad to be standing for a council that is taking a lead on environmental issues. Haringey Council has committed to the 40:20 target: to reduce emissions by 40% by 2020. Haringey is also set to become the first electric biking borough in an extension to the Barclays Cycle Hire Scheme. The bike-hire trial and the new routes will be funded by Transport for London using part of the Mayor's £913m cycling budget, but commercial sponsorship will also be sought. The scheme should be in place by next year.

Dear James,
Prior to Thursday’s Poll I would be grateful if you could let me know if, if elected, you will be urging the Council to re-open the 6 drop-in centres for the elderly described as ‘essential’ and which Haringey Council closed in 2011 / 2012? I believe there is still a good deal of money left unused in the One Borough One Future fund. I have contacted Catherine West over this issue and raised it on a number of Labour Party platforms. I have not received a single reply to date. I look forward to hearing from you.
