Great turnout for the day of action on Muswell Hill Broadway

Catherine West MP found many supporters  among the shoppers and at our stall on Muswell Hill Broadway last Saturday.

Saturday 8th July 10am.

With the local elections next May, now is the time to think ahead and join our Be a Councillor event for women members in both Hornsey & Wood Green and Tottenham CLPs.

Come and hear from current Haringey women councillors about the selection process and what the job involves. The event is being held on Saturday 8th July, 10am to 12 noon at the Cypriot Centre, Earlham Grove, N22 here. If you can’t make 8th July, then there will be an opportunity to attend another Be a Councillor Event for Labour women on 15th July

Agenda: 1. Introduction to the selection process and campaigning;  2. Why we need women to stand;  3. What it's like to be a councillor;  4. The highs and lows of selection: what does it feel like?;   5. A practical session with other women councillors, looking at the kind of questions they ask during the selection process;  6. Questions from the room

We would encourage as many women as possible to come along and find out more. Coming along doesn't mean making a commitment there and then, but it does mean being better informed to make a decision. This will also be a great opportunity to meet with women across both Tottenham and Hornsey & Wood Green constituencies.

Please contact us at labourinharingey@gmail.com to register for a place or if you have any questions.

Catherine West was returned to Parliament with a 30, 000 majority over her Liberal Democrat, opponent, Dawn Barnes.

In her victory speech, she said:

' We know we can talk about the issues like climate change and human rights and all those important things and that people do vote on climate change and human rights. Let’s never forget that we can have those principles and stick to those beliefs and we will get the support if we articulate that in our campaign.'
Let's continue the conversation at the CLP conference on 24th June!
