I was brought up and educated in Hackney and moved to Haringey in 2003 although I have been involved in community activism in Haringey since the early 1990’s.
I was elected in 2006 to represent Bounds Green Ward, and re-elected in 2010 to continue to build on the successes we achieved working with all stakeholders.
I have always been interested in politics and wanting to change things for the better. For me politics isn’t about voting every few years, it’s about people being involved in the decision-making to help shape the kind of society they want to live in. I am passionate about town planning and housing, an area I currently work in at a neighbouring borough. I believe that a decision to build, regenerate or conserve an area should not just be decided by central or local government, but also the community should be at the heart of it.
Passion and dedication are two key ingredients to being a good and effective Councillor; I am passionate about Bounds Green and dedicated to working with the local community, local authority and all stakeholders to make it the best place to live.
